FLIGHT TEST ENGINEER

This individual is responsible for coordination and safe execution of all flight test activities across Geneva projects. These duties include working with project management personnel in developing flight test schedules, coordinating flight test logistics, and coordinating appropriate personnel to support the flight test events. The flight test engineer is responsible for safety and risk assessments of each flight test event, as well as verification that each test article has been adequately prepared for safe and successful execution of the test requirements. The FTE is further responsible for identifying and securing the proper approvals, certifications, and waivers specified by any governing body presiding over the relevant test facilities. The FTE must ensure that all Geneva personnel adhere to the established processes and complete the requisite documentation for each flight test event.

Responsibilities

• Works with management to establish, maintain, and continuously update flight test processes

• Coordinates flight test readiness reviews

• Ensures effective and safe conduct of flight test events

• Interfaces with range safety personnel on government test ranges

• Coordinates personnel at flight test events

• Updates field test procedures for completeness and efficiency

• Spearheads flight test location selection

This individual is responsible for development and coordination of all flight test documentation including

• Project flight test schedules

• Pre-flight reports

• Post-flight reports including test anomalies

• Range safety documentation

• Flight test plans including risk assessments and failure trees

• Flight cards

• Flight line safety documentation

• Check lists

• Pack lists

This individual acts as Geneva’s primary POC when coordinating flight activities with the following

• FAA

• Range safety and facility test administration personnel

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

Requires demonstrated ability to interpret government, regulatory, customer, and program guidance and then estimate, create work requirements, processes, and tasks to support the conduct of verification and analysis of flight vehicles. Ability to independently schedule, plan, and lead an offsite flight test event. Requires understanding and working knowledge of vehicle data retrieval and manipulation systems. Must be able to review, interpret, and draft developmental flight test plans and reports. Requires strong interpersonal skills due to multi-disciplinary demands. Familiar with established guidelines and processes used in the preparation and conduct of various types of developmental flight test to include performance, handling qualities, load surveys, and software on aircraft regression. Prefer recent experience with US DoD, FAA and international military customer.
